How To Get More Qualified
Traffic To Your Web Page

Targeted Website Traffic

One of the great challenges of generating traffic to your website is that it’s not just about generating traffic, but about generating the right kind of traffic. Because, what’s the point of having thousands of people click on your website if only a few of them have the slightest interest in what you have to offer? This isn’t the right approach to any kind of marketing, and it’s certainly not the formula for your online success, either.

There are various reasons why you’re currently struggling to generate enough traffic to your website. You might be struggling to find the find right keywords for your business, or you haven’t mastered the art of search engine optimization (SEO) — which to be honest, very few people have.

Or, for those of you that have been working really hard to build a following on social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn, you probably haven’t created enough content and engagement on the platforms that can generate traffic everyday to your website.

Avoid Past Failures

And the reason for your traffic deficiency really comes down to two things. First, most people generally don’t possess the proper knowledge and strategies to effectively succeed with SEO or social media, which generates a significant amount of traffic back to your website. Second, the increase in competition online has made it very difficult to squeeze into the market and generate traffic and a following — at least organically.

Trying to get traffic organically through SEO and social media takes a lot more work than it did 10 years ago. There are 211 million pieces of content being produced every minute online, so competing online takes a lot of time, energy and non-stop content generation.

However, for those that are brave enough to venture into paid advertising like Google PPC or Facebook Ads, you will find that it is a great traffic equalizer if done right. In fact, paid traffic is the fastest way to generate qualified leads and scale your business exponentially. More on that in a moment.

Whether you decide to use an organic or paid approach , the main cornerstone to successfully generating traffic, and then getting that traffic to take action and become a customer, is to make sure you know how to identify your target audience.

Most people miss this crucial step of identifying a target audience, and the result is that a lot of effort without any focus, which means the desired traffic will simply not come.

The fact of the matter is: if you don’t identify your target audience (what they look like, who they are, etc.) you’ll never identify and target the platforms where your target audience resides online.

And this is the secret to traffic success: knowing exactly where your audience lives online so you can provide the proper content, keywords and ads to get their attention and bring them over to your web page.

How Can You Identify Your Target Audience?

Let me show you a quick strategy on how to easily figure out who your target audience is so that you can effectively target better platforms and start generating a ton of traffic to your website.

First, write a list of competitor websites. If you’re not sure who your competitors are, just do a basic search-engine query (Google, Bing, etc.) using keywords related to what you do.

Google Search Business Coach

So, for example, if you’re a business coach, do a search using “business coach”. You can get even more specific by also typing in your target geographical area, such as city, state/province, country, etc.

Google Search Houston Personal Fitness Trainer

You can do multiple keyword searches to zero in on your competition. The ensuing search results can provide you with your list of competitors.

Once you have your basic list, you can expand upon it further by going to websites such as www.similarsites.com or www.similarweb.com.

You simply type in your competitor web addresses/URLs, one at a time, and these sites will generate even larger lists of potential competitors in your field. The more popular the sites that you input, the better the results will be.

SimilarWeb Tony Robbins

From these results, you can then add to your original list of competitors.

How Do You Turn Your Target Audience Into Website Traffic?

As mentioned earlier, there are generally two ways of attracting your target audience to your website(s). You can do it via organic traffic (search engines, social media, content marketing, etc.), or you can do it by using paid traffic (Google AdWords, Facebook Ads, etc.)

Now, I’ve been doing this long enough to know that many of you, upon reading about the choice between organic and paid traffic, are probably more likely to gravitate towards organic traffic, because some of you may be skeptical about paid-traffic methods for a variety of reasons; perhaps the biggest one is that you have to pay for it.

But, guess what? Even though you’re not paying for organic traffic money-wise, you are paying for it through time. And, for most business owners, time is money.

With organic traffic, even though you might not be spending money to get traffic, it does take more time and energy to produce organic traffic, sometimes months even years. And during that time while you're waiting, money is being lost. So can you really say that organic traffic is really free?

Which Is Why I Always Recommend My Clients To Start With Paid Traffic Especially Facebook Ads.

I know what some of you are thinking right now. Your experience with Facebook ads or any type of paid traffic may not have been very successful, leaving a bad impression about the method. You’ve either spent a lot of money without seeing desired results, or your ads had problems getting approved, therefore not even giving you any chance at testing things out.

There are 5 reasons why your Facebook Ads might not have been successful in the past:

  1. You haven’t clearly defined who your perfect customer is, their exact gender, age range, income level, schooling, country of residence. Not know this information correctly puts your ads in free fall hoping to accidently come across your customer instead of knowing who they are and where to find them.
  2. Your audience targeting is too broad, which means you’re targeting precise interests like Tiger Woods, Tony Robbins, Walmart, these types of fan pages are way too broad because there are too many X factors for why people are liking the page. You need to look for pages that only your perfect audience would know about where the general public wouldn’t.
  3. Your message doesn’t match your target audience, meaning your ad copy doesn’t have a defined message with a hook that has a precise objective to get the perfect customer to click through and take action.
  4. You didn’t calculate the exact CPC (Cost per click) that you can spend on each ad in order to retain a breakeven or positive ROI on your ad spend. This again puts you in a free fall not knowing whether $1.45 is a good CPC or $2.75. And just because you see $0.65 clicks doesn’t necessarily mean that’s good. You need to know your numbers before you start or else you can waste and lose a lot of money.
  5. You didn’t properly set up a testing sequence to identify winning ads and how to split test those winning ads to get you more clicks and conversions.

Did you miss any of these steps, if so ...

What Should You Do Next ?

Here are 3 steps you can start with:

Step 1 - Identify your perfect customer avatar and the different buyer profiles within that avatar.

Step 2 - Create a message and a hook with one specific outcome that your perfect customer needs right now.

Step 3 - Dig through and identify the precise interests beneath the popular layer and target the ones that only your perfect audience will know that the rest of the world doesn’t.
